FUNDRAISING

Fundraising Director: Randy Enzman – rcenzmann@gmail.com

This is a charity event to benefit the mission of the Navy SEAL Foundation to provide immediate and ongoing support and assistance to the NSW community and their families. Swimmers are asked to participate in raising funds – an ideal goal is $1,500 per swimmer.

While $1500 is the ideal fundraising goal per swimmer, we appreciate the best efforts of our participants in helping us reach this year’s total fundraising goal of $200,000.  Before registering, we ask that you please consider your ability to meet that dollar amount as you may be taking the slot of a swimmer who has every intention of meeting or exceeding that goal.

Fundraising can be done via our imAthlete.com page, collecting donations personally or through the “Donate” button on our home page. Please visit www.navysealfoundation.org to learn more about this very special cause. The following quote captures the essence of the Tampa Bay Frogman Swim, a spirit we hope to duplicate in the Golden Gate Swim…

FITNESS LEVEL

The Golden Gate Frogman Swim, a two mile open water event, may be challenging for even seasoned swimmers, therefore it is recommended that swimmers possess some degree of open water experience or, at the very least, competitive long distance pool experience.

To ensure the safety of the swimmers, the event committee will reserve the right to review the swimming experience of each participant and possibly deny registration to the event if safety concerns exist; or some swimmers may be asked to furnish a letter from a sanctioned swim team or masters coach attesting to their ability to complete such an arduous open-water event.

WATER TEMPERATURE

The water temperature of the Bay is usually between 55-63 degrees in August, and as a result, wetsuits are mandatory. Exceptions, i.e., swimmers training for the English Channel, etc., will be made on case by case basis at the race director’s discretion prior to the event.
